Answer texts and DMs before the customer writes to someone else
Customers write to you where it is easy: a text to your business number, a message on Instagram, a question on Facebook or WhatsApp. They write in the evening and on weekends, and sometimes to more than one business at once. A quick, useful reply keeps the conversation with you.
This is the messaging part of our AI assistant. Magnet Mint is a Boston studio. We set up replies on SMS and the main messengers from answers you approve, so common questions are answered quickly and real requests reach a person.
What the assistant does, step by step
- Picks the channels. Text, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, or a mix. Most businesses start with the one that gets the most messages.
- Writes the answers. From your website, price list and past messages. You edit and approve them. The assistant answers from this list.
- Sets up consent. For texting, we write the opt-in wording and set up STOP handling.
- Registers the number. Business texting numbers need carrier registration (A2P 10DLC). We help you with it.
- Collects the request. Name, contact details, what the customer needs and when.
- Hands off to a person. Anything outside the approved list, anything urgent and anyone who asks for a person goes to your team with a summary.
- Tests, launches and tunes. We try it with real messages first, then adjust during the first 30 days.
SMS and AI text assistant
Texting is the most regulated channel here. Under the FCC’s TCPA rules, automated texts need the person’s prior express consent, and marketing texts need prior express written consent, so we record how each person opted in. Carriers require registration (A2P 10DLC) for business messaging from a regular 10-digit number. Each text also has a small cost. As an example, Twilio’s published US rates in October 2026 are $0.0083 per outbound message segment, plus a carrier fee of $0.0035 to $0.005 depending on the carrier. That is roughly 1.2 to 1.3 cents per outbound segment. Your provider and volumes may differ, and we bill message fees at cost.
Texting a caller back after a missed call is a separate step, part of booking and follow-up.
Instagram DM, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp
These channels let businesses answer messages from customers who found them on social media.
- Instagram. The assistant answers common direct messages: hours, services, price ranges you chose to share, how to book.
- Facebook Messenger. Same answers on your business page.
- WhatsApp. WhatsApp Business replies for customers who prefer to write there.
Each platform has its own rules for business messaging, and they change. We set up within them, and we tell you if a rule limits what the assistant can do. We cannot control what a platform allows.
What makes this different, in checkable facts
- It answers from answers you approved. You see the list before launch.
- Consent first. We set up opt-in wording and STOP handling for texting.
- Every request reaches a person, with a summary.
- Scope, price and timeline are agreed in writing before work starts.
- One named person leads your project. We write the answers. You approve.
- The first 30 days after launch include tuning and fixes within the agreed scope.
Compliance
- Texting needs consent (TCPA) and carrier registration (A2P 10DLC).
- Clinics. Dental, medical, chiropractic and PT offices should keep patient information, including names tied to appointment requests, out of SMS and social messages unless the vendor signs a HIPAA business associate agreement. The assistant answers general questions and points patients to a covered booking tool.
- Law firms. Intake and scheduling only, with no legal advice. Attorney advertising rules apply.
This is not legal advice. Check your rules with a lawyer.
What it costs and what is not included
Website chat and messaging: from $199/month. Setup: from $900, usually 2-3 weeks, with the first month included. Prices are as of October 2026.
Not included in any price: domain and hosting, new photography, third-party software subscriptions (billed at cost), SMS carrier registration (A2P 10DLC) and message fees, and AI usage above the plan allowance.
Who this is for, and who it is not for
It suits businesses that already get messages and reply late. If you get two or three messages a week, answer them yourself and add a chat later. If your customers mostly call, start with the AI receptionist. If you want everything in one place, see the shared inbox.
