Local SEO in Boston for service businesses

When someone near Boston searches for a plumber, a dentist or a med spa, three things shape what they see: the map results, the websites that rank below them, and increasingly an AI answer. They draw on the same facts about your business, so local SEO and AI search visibility are one job.

Magnet Mint is a Boston studio. We do local SEO for service businesses in Boston, Cambridge and Greater Boston, and for owners across the US who work with us remotely. We start with your website. Then we improve your business one step at a time, and you choose every step.

What we do each month

  1. Google Business Profile. We review your categories, services, hours, description and photos, and keep them accurate and current. You approve changes, and you keep ownership of the profile.
  2. Matching listings. We compare your name, address and phone on Google, Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, Yelp and your site, and fix differences. Map apps read these listings, and when they disagree with your site, no system can be sure which version is right.
  3. Service-area pages. We decide which areas deserve a page. If you serve Somerville and have specifics to say, such as typical jobs, travel time and how booking works there, we write it. If you do not, we do not publish a page.
  4. Reviews. We write a short request and set up a simple way to ask real customers after a job. We help you reply to reviews. We do not write or buy reviews.
  5. Schema. Structured data for the business and its services. Google’s LocalBusiness guidance asks for the name and address and recommends details such as telephone, opening hours and URL. It must match what is on the page.
  6. AI-answer check. Each month we ask the main assistants your customers’ questions and note whether you appear and who does instead. Bing Webmaster Tools also reports citations in Microsoft Copilot and Bing’s AI summaries, and we use it once your site is verified.
  7. Monthly report. A short written note: what changed, what we saw, what is next.

What makes this different, in checkable facts

  • Scope, price and approval stages are written down before work starts. You know what the month includes.
  • You own the accounts. Your profiles stay in your name, and we ask for manager access.
  • No fake reviews and no copy-paste city pages. If a page has nothing specific to say, it is not published.
  • No promise of placement. Google says its AI features need no special optimization and that standard SEO fundamentals apply. Nobody controls what ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode or Perplexity recommend. We promise correct facts and a measured before and after.
  • Each step is optional. Local SEO does not lock you into a website, an AI assistant or any other add-on.

Local SEO or the audit first?

If you are not sure what is wrong, start with the GEO/AEO audit (from $750). It gives you a ranked list and a baseline. If your profiles and pages are in reasonable shape and need steady care, the monthly plan fits. If the website itself is the problem, look at AI-ready websites or web design in Boston.

What it costs and what is not included

  • Local SEO: from $600/month.
  • Ongoing AI search optimization (page updates, technical checks and AI-answer re-checks): from $450/month. See AI search optimization.
  • GEO/AEO audit: from $750, delivered in 1-2 weeks.

Prices are as of October 2026. Not included: domain and hosting, new photography, third-party software subscriptions (billed at cost), SMS carrier registration (A2P 10DLC) and message fees, and AI usage above the plan allowance. Paid advertising spend is not part of any price.

Who this is for, and who it is not for

This is for service businesses that win customers in a defined area and have a website with real service pages: contractors, clinics, salons, cleaners, law firms. It is a good fit if you want one person to keep your profiles and facts consistent.

It is not a fit if you want a flood of city pages or purchased reviews. It also adds little if your business has no website and no profile yet; start with web design, or ask for a free demo to see where to begin.

Questions owners ask

How much does local SEO cost in Boston?

Our local SEO plan is from $600/month. A one-time GEO/AEO audit is from $750 if you want a list of fixes first. Software subscriptions are billed at cost.

What does a Boston SEO company actually do for a local business?

For a local service business, the core work is a correct Google Business Profile, matching listings, clear service pages and real reviews. Ranking factors beyond that change often, so we keep to the items you can check.

Can you promise a top spot on Google Maps or in AI answers?

No. Nobody controls Google's results or what ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode or Perplexity recommend. We improve the facts and consistency, and we record before and after.

Do you build a page for every Boston neighborhood?

No. A page is worth publishing only if you serve that area and have something specific to say about it. Copies of the same page with a different city name do not help customers. We plan a small set of real pages.

How is local SEO different from AI search optimization?

Local SEO focuses on maps and nearby searches. AI search optimization covers how assistants read your site and cite it. They share the same base: correct facts, matching listings and a crawlable site. See AI search optimization.

Do you write or buy reviews?

No. We help you ask real customers and write the request, and we help you answer reviews. Google's Maps content policy does not allow fake or paid reviews, and it removes them.

Do I need a new website for local SEO?

Not always. If your site has a page per service and the right facts, we can work with it. If not, a website redesign or an AI-ready website comes first.

How long until I see results?

Profile corrections can show within days or weeks, depending on the platform. Changes in rankings and AI answers take longer and vary. We report what changed, with dates.
