Step 3 · Booking and follow-up

Review requests and review management in Boston

Magnet Mint sets up automated review requests for local businesses in Boston and Greater Boston, and remotely across the US. After each visit, every customer gets one message with one direct link to your Google review page, not only the happy ones. It is part of the follow-up pack: setup from $500 and from $99/month, with software and SMS fees billed at cost. To start, call 617-991-9912 or ask for a free demo.

  • Written scope, price and timeline before work starts, and 30 days of help and fixes after launch

Most happy customers never leave a review. They are not against it. Nobody asked, or the ask came a week late and the link was buried. A review request fixes that: a short message sent soon after the visit, with one direct link to your Google review page.

Magnet Mint sets this up as part of online booking, reminders and follow-up. We connect it to your booking tool, so a request goes out after a completed appointment and not at random.

How to get more Google reviews with automated review requests

  1. Find and check your review link. We pull the direct link from your Google Business Profile, test it on a phone and make a short link or QR code for it.
  2. Write the message. Two sentences, in your voice, thanking the customer and asking for an honest review. We do not suggest what to write.
  3. Pick the moment. Usually a few hours after the visit, when the customer remembers it. For a job that ends with an invoice, after the job is closed.
  4. Connect it to the booking tool. The request follows a completed visit, so only real customers get it.
  5. Send to everyone. Every customer gets the same request. Not only the ones you think were happy.
  6. One reminder at most. One follow-up if there is no click. Then stop.
  7. Set up alerts. Google Business Profile can notify owners of new reviews. We check that the alert reaches a person who will reply.

The rules, and why we send to every customer

Two rules matter, and we build around both.

  • Google. Its policy on rating manipulation says businesses may not selectively solicit positive reviews from customers. It also does not allow incentives such as payment, discounts or free goods in exchange for a review, and it asks businesses not to request that specific content be included.
  • The FTC. A federal rule on consumer reviews and testimonials took effect on October 21, 2024. It prohibits fake or false reviews, bans incentives conditioned on a positive (or negative) review, and bans suppressing reviews through threats, intimidation or false accusations. Courts can impose civil penalties for knowing violations. The rule has no specific line on asking only happy customers, but FTC staff say that practice could violate the FTC Act.

So we do not filter by satisfaction, do not send unhappy customers somewhere else, and do not write reviews. A bad review answered well is part of how real customers judge you. This is not legal advice; check the sources below.

Texts also need consent (TCPA), business texting numbers need carrier registration (A2P 10DLC), and every flow needs STOP handling. We set up the opt-in wording and STOP handling. You can ask by email instead of by text if you prefer.

Review management without the monthly platform

Dedicated review platforms exist, and Podium, Birdeye and NiceJob are examples. They charge a subscription, and they suit businesses with several locations or large volumes. For many small businesses, a message from the booking tool with a direct link is enough. If you are comparing platforms, we can set one up with you or tell you it is not needed. We do not resell any of them.

Replies matter as much as requests. We give you a short reply guide: thank the customer, name the service, keep it short, and for a complaint, offer a way to talk offline without arguing in public.

What it costs and what is not included

Review requests are part of the follow-up pack: setup from $500, then from $99/month. Setup takes 1-2 weeks. Prices are as of October 2026. Scope, price and timeline are agreed in writing before work starts.

Not included in any price: domain and hosting, new photography, third-party software subscriptions (billed at cost), SMS carrier registration (A2P 10DLC) and message fees, and AI usage above the plan allowance.

Who this is for, and who it is not for

This fits businesses with real customers and few or old reviews: salons, clinics, med spas and home services. It is not for anyone who wants reviews written, bought or filtered. We do not do that, and it breaks Google’s policy.

We cannot control what Google or AI assistants do with your reviews, and we do not promise a rating or a ranking.

Questions owners ask

How do I improve my reviews on Google?

Ask every customer, soon after the visit, with one direct link, and reply to every review. Do not choose who to ask, offer rewards for reviews or write reviews yourself. For the full list, read how to get more Google reviews.

Can I ask only happy customers for a review?

No. Google's policy prohibits selectively soliciting positive reviews, and FTC staff say asking only happy customers could violate the FTC Act. We send the request to every customer.

What is a Google review generator?

Two different things. A link generator gives you a short link or QR code to your review form, which is fine. A tool that writes or invents reviews creates fake reviews, which the FTC's 2024 rule prohibits. We do the first and never the second.

Can I offer a discount for a review?

Google's policy does not allow offering incentives such as discounts or free goods for reviews. Do not do it, and do not ask customers to include specific words in a review.

Is review management software worth it for a small business?

Often a request sent at the right moment with a direct link does most of the work. A larger platform is worth it when you have many locations, many review sites and a team to manage them. We tell you honestly which fits.

How many reviews do I need?

There is no magic number. A steady flow of recent reviews from real customers matters more than a total, and we cannot control how Google or AI assistants use them. We do not promise a rating or a ranking.

Do you reply to reviews for us?

We set up alerts and give you a reply guide. A person on your team replies, because only you know what happened.
