The short answer: what a small business website costs
If you are asking how much a website costs, the honest answer is a range, and the range is wide. A page on a builder can cost a few dozen dollars a month. A large custom site from a full-service agency can run to tens of thousands of dollars. For a local service business with a handful of services, most quotes fall in the middle. This page shows our prices, what other builders charge, what pushes the price up or down, and what you pay after launch.
This is part of our web design in Boston service. Prices below are in USD, as of October 2026.
Magnet Mint website prices
| Package | Price | Timeline | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landing page | from $1,200 | 2-3 weeks | One service or one ad campaign |
| 5-8 page service site | from $3,500 | 4-6 weeks | A business with several services |

Every package includes the brief and competitor review, all copy, design and mobile build, service pages with real facts, schema markup, a tested contact form or booking link, profile checks and 30 days of help and fixes after launch.
Details by package: landing page, 5-8 page small business website, website redesign and WordPress.
What drives the cost of a website
You are mostly paying for hours. When one quote is half the price of another, look first at the top three lines below, because that is where low quotes usually save time.
- Strategy and positioning. Is anyone working out who the site is for and why a customer should pick you, or are you just getting a template?
- Copy. Will you write every word yourself? That usually takes longer than owners expect. Our packages include the copy.
- Support after launch. Are fixes included, and for how long? Ours include the first 30 days.
- Number of pages. A business with six services needs six service pages, each with its own facts and questions.
- Design. A template with your logo costs less than a layout planned around your services and customers.
- Features. Online booking, payments or a CRM connection each add setup and testing.
- Search and AI readiness. Titles, headings, schema and a sitemap so Google and AI assistants can read your facts.
- Migration. If you have a site now, someone has to move what works and redirect old pages.
What other builders charge in the US
WPZoom’s 2026 guide separates freelancers from agencies, which is the biggest single factor in price. WPZoom does not say how large the agencies are.
| Type of website | Freelancer | Agency | Magnet Mint |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-page website | $500-$1,500 | $2,000-$5,000 | $1,200-$2,500 |
| Small business site (5-10 pages) | $1,500-$5,000 | $5,000-$15,000 | $3,500-$6,500 |
| Service business with custom features | $3,000-$8,000 | $8,000-$20,000+ | Quoted after we write the scope |

Redesigns are priced differently, because someone has to read what exists and move it without losing search traffic. 925 Studios splits the market into three tiers:
| Redesign | Freelancer | Small boutique agency | Full-service agency | Magnet Mint |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Typical size | 10-20 pages | 10-30 pages | 30-75 pages | Sized to your site |
| Price | $3,000-$10,000 | $5,000-$25,000 | $25,000-$75,000 | Refresh from $2,500, redesign $4,500-$9,000 |

On landing pages, LanderLab lists $500-$1,500 for a basic page from freelancers and $1,000-$5,000+ from agencies. That article is from November 2024, so it is the oldest figure here.
One caution: these guides are published by companies that sell websites, so read them as asking prices that show where quotes cluster. Our prices sit between the freelancer and agency ranges because the copy, mobile design and 30 days of fixes are included. For a longer look at how to price a website from the builder’s side, read how much to charge for a website.
What is not included in our prices
- Domain name and hosting
- New photography or video
- Third-party software subscriptions (booking, CRM, review or phone tools), billed at cost
- SMS carrier registration (A2P 10DLC) and message fees
- AI usage above a plan allowance
Every site needs a domain and hosting. The other items apply only if you add those features. We list what applies to you in the written scope, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
What it costs to run a website after launch
The one-time price is not the whole cost. Here is what continues.
| Ongoing cost | Who bills it | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Domain name | Registrar | A yearly renewal. You choose the registrar. |
| Hosting | The host | Monthly or yearly. Ask for the renewal price, not the first-year offer. |
| Software subscriptions | The tool vendor | Only if you add booking, CRM or phone tools. |
| Care plan (optional) | Magnet Mint | Support $149/month, Improve $299/month, Grow $499/month |
The first 30 days after launch include help and fixes within the agreed scope. After that you can edit the site yourself, ask us for changes, or choose a care plan. Support covers uptime and form checks, updates and backups, care of connected tools and up to 1 hour of changes. Improve adds up to 3 hours of improvements a month and a monthly summary. Grow adds up to 5 hours, a results review and a monthly call.
For comparison, WebFX puts maintenance at $5-$5,000 a month depending on site size and support. Websults, a US agency, lists WordPress care at $99 a month for 30 minutes, $199 for 1 hour and $349 for 3 hours.
How to compare quotes
Before you sign anything, get these in writing:
- The scope. Pages, copy, design rounds, forms and integrations.
- Who writes the words. If it is you, how long will you realistically take?
- What is not included. The list above is a good start.
- What happens after launch. How long fixes are included, and what editing costs.
- Who owns the site. You should own the domain, the content and the design files.
- Mobile and accessibility. Ask whether it is tested on phones and built to WCAG 2.1 AA.
Which option fits you
Choose a landing page if you sell one service or run one ad campaign. Choose a 5-8 page site if customers search for several of your services and want your area, your prices and your questions answered before they call. Choose a refresh if the site works but is out of date, and a redesign if the structure itself is the problem.
If you only need a simple page for a side project and you are happy to maintain it yourself, a builder like Wix or Squarespace can be enough, and it will cost less than a studio. Whether you need a site at all is covered in do I need a website.
How to start
Ask for a free demo. It is free, with no obligation: a short call, then a demo for your business with 3-4 competitors side by side. Or call 617-991-9912 (our AI assistant answers and passes your request to the team). We will tell you which package makes sense and give you a written scope and price before you commit to anything.
